Contest Rules

CONTEST RULES

• Age Divisions – Three Rounds – No time penalty unless abused

• PeeWee:      8 & Under
• Jr.Jr.:                   9 – 12
• Junior:                  13 – 17
• Adult:          18 – 59
• Senior:                  60 & Over

• All divisions must play a hoedown, waltz, and tune of choice, in that order.

• Contestants must play different tunes in each round.  No tunes may be repeated.

• Exception:
• No Holds Barred Division – One Round – No Rules – 5 minute time limit

• Limited to four (4) accompanists, but may not have more than three (3) guitar players.  Groups of four (4) or more may not appear twice in the same division.  (No cross entering under 2 different names.)

• Accompanists judged by times on stage.

• In case of a tie, those involved will play one additional tune of their choice.

• Anyone appearing intoxicated will not be allowed to perform or judge, and will be required to forfeit all monies earned.  Definition of intoxicated will be up to the discretion of the contest chairperson.

• It is the contestant’s responsibility to be ready to play when called.  Those not ready will be scratched from that division without refund of entry fee.

• Accompanists are not to solicit to play with the fiddlers.  Violation of this ruling will result in disqualification of the accompanist for any trophy or prize monies and without refund of entry fee.
